Wildberry Bone Health Review
Bone health is about more than a number on a scan
Bones, muscles, balance, nutrition and overall health work together to help you stay active and independent. Whether you have been told you have osteopenia or osteoporosis, have had a fracture, or want to understand a change in bone density, we help you put the findings into context and make a practical plan.
What We Aim to Achieve
Our aim is to understand your individual fracture risk, identify factors that may be contributing to bone loss, and support the strength and function that protect your bones over time. We consider both medical treatment and the daily foundations of long-term bone health.
We look at six connected areas:
- Bone density, fracture history and overall fracture risk
- Hormonal and other medical influences on bone renewal
- Nutrition, digestion and nutrient status
- Muscle strength, physical activity and appropriate bone loading
- Balance, falls risk, mobility and confidence
- Medicines, lifestyle and the care already in place
What the Programme Involves
The Wildberry Bone Health Review is a structured 12-week programme with the following stages.
1. Comprehensive Initial Consultation
A 90-minute consultation explores your health and fracture history, family history, symptoms, medicines and supplements, nutrition, digestion, menopause or other hormonal changes where relevant, movement, strength, balance and everyday goals. We also discuss any concerns about exercise, fractures or loss of independence.
2. Review of Investigations
We review your existing DXA reports, relevant imaging, blood tests and medical correspondence. A DXA result is considered alongside your age, fracture history, clinical risk factors and, where appropriate, a validated fracture-risk assessment. Depending on your circumstances, we may suggest discussing further investigation with your GP or consultant, including:
- Possible causes of bone loss or fragility fractures
- Vitamin D, calcium and other nutritional or metabolic concerns
- Thyroid, kidney or other conditions relevant to bone health
- Possible vertebral fracture assessment when the history indicates it
- Whether your current fracture-prevention treatment and follow-up plan need review
With your consent, we can communicate with your GP, consultant or physiotherapist to coordinate care. People at high or very high fracture risk need timely medical assessment; the programme works alongside prescribed fracture-prevention treatment.
3. Your Personalised Bone Health Map
Following the assessment, you receive a written summary of:
- Your main bone-health and functional priorities
- Factors that may be contributing to bone loss or falls risk
- Strengths and protective habits already in place
- Questions to take to your GP or consultant, and points to monitor
4. Your Individual Care Plan
Your plan may bring together:
- Practical nutrition guidance covering adequate food intake, protein, calcium and vitamin D where relevant
- An appropriate strength, weight-bearing and balance plan, developed with your physiotherapist when needed
- Personalised clinical herbal medicine for relevant aspects of your wider health, selected with your medicines and medical history in mind
- Support for sleep, recovery, confidence and sustainable daily habits
- Medical follow-up, fall prevention and a longer-term monitoring plan
No herbal prescription is presented as a replacement for osteoporosis medication or as a proven way to prevent fractures. The plan is adapted to your fracture history, physical capacity, preferences and existing care.
Physiotherapist Assessment (Recommended in Addition)
We recommend a separate assessment with a physiotherapist to evaluate strength, balance, mobility and suitable exercise. The physiotherapist can develop and supervise an individual exercise programme based on your needs and fracture risk. Their assessment and exercise sessions are arranged and charged separately.
5. Review and Follow-Up
A care-plan appointment allows us to discuss the findings and agree manageable priorities. Follow-up consultations at approximately six and twelve weeks review your progress, new results, activity, symptoms and adherence, and adjust the plan where needed.
At the end of the programme, you receive updated priorities and a longer-term plan for maintaining strength, mobility and bone health. Changes in bone density are assessed over an appropriate clinical interval, rather than treated as a 12-week outcome.
